Interim Procurement Manager
Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and resilient Interim Procurement Manager to take charge of the procurement operations within a challenging and dynamic marine shipping environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in procurement, with a proven track record of managing systems, processes, and operational management. Consulting experience is preferred to bring a strategic perspective and drive improvement in our procurement practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Procurement Management
- Directly set up, plan and manage the entire procurement process, from sourcing and negotiation to contract management and supplier relationship management.
- Develop and implement procurement strategies to ensure cost-effective and timely acquisition of goods and services.
- Conduct market research and analysis to identify potential suppliers and evaluate their capabilities.
- Negotiate terms and conditions with suppliers to secure favourable agreements.
- Assess current procurement systems and processes, identifying areas for improvement.
- Implement and optimize procurement systems and processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Drive change management initiatives to streamline procurement operations.
Operational Management
- Oversee day-to-day procurement activities, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
- Manage procurement budgets, track expenses, and generate cost-saving initiatives.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand their procurement needs and deliver timely solutions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in procurement management, with a focus in the marine shipping industry, or prior experiences in the mining or oil and gas industry is an added advantage.
- Proven experience working in a consulting environment, with the ability to provide strategic advice and implement solutions.
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Resilient, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a challenging and dynamic environment.
- Knowledge of relevant regulations and industry standards related to marine shipping and procurement.
- Ability to lead the project, with a results-oriented and proactive approach.
- Experience in marine engineering will be an added advantage.
- Proficient in written and spoken English.
- You must be willing to relocate and work in Papua New Guinea.
